Psalm 18:2

“The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer,
my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge,
my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.”

In times of trouble, we look for something to cling to. We want a place to go, somewhere safe and comforting that can shut out the things we struggle with. It’s easy to find comfort in worldly things or people, especially when we are at our worst. We find the things we know are around us, things that we can see, touch, experience. Sometimes when we are in our darkest places, we can’t reach out spiritually, we just want something to make us feel better in the moment.

The Lord is the place we need to run to. He is our perfect rock that will never crumble or fall. He will let us come to His fortress no matter our struggles, there is no keep out sign. His shield will cover us completely and not allow any arrows of the enemy to hit us. He has given us the best gift, complete salvation. I want to encourage you to meditate on this verse; I want you to look to God and run to Him and let yourself find refuge on a lonely, strong rock. Allow yourself a time of solitude leaning on His strength.
